Hot Diggity Dog

A 35th Birthday Party

Have you ever met someone who loves hot dogs, like really loves hot dogs? I have and it makes for an excellent theme for a birthday party, not to mention, a super fun party to plan.

When my girlfriend Aurora told me she wanted to have a hot dog themed 35th birthday, I immediately asked if she wanted help planning it, and I was especially excited to help find a food vendor and look at menu options. I mean who can resist a hot dog, let alone a fancy hot dog?! Rhythmic Provisions provided the hot dogs, 6 different kinds to be exact! While family and friends contributed with other food, like salads, hummus, and deviled eggs to name a few.

This is the L.A. Style Hot Dog w/ mustard, ketchup, mayo, grilled onions & sweet peppers, jalapeños, & bacon. A fun add was the flaming hot cheetos!

As Aurora looked over food vendors, I got to work trying to find decor that wasn’t too BBQ heavy, but provided more picnic accessories needed. We landed on using gingham printed table cloths (one was also used a backdrop for photos), and decorated a cute cocktail bar with all the hot dog swag we could find. Setting up a ballon arch with large hot dog balloons, is no easy feat, but anything for my girl Aurora. Speaking of anything, we even got personalized tattoos made of the birthday girl in a hot dog costume, customized a t-shirt, and had pins made. Everyone got to go home with a piece of the birthday girl!

The venue, Manatawny Still Works, has a great cocktail menu and allowed us to take over a decent portion of the bar. We kept the hot dog vendor, right outside with the garage doors open for an easy flow to the food and tables. We had done a cocktail tasting and walk through of the venue, prior to the event, so we had a good idea of where everything was going to be set up and good friends that came early with us to help!

I brought a polaroid camera, as well as a Camp Snap camera, which creates really fun disposable like digital photos for you. Guests got to pose with picnic style props and take polaroids home as a keepsake.

I can’t decide if people dressing up in a hot dog costume was the best or if it was the actual hot dogs. Both were amazing, but the real ones definitely taste better 😉

This was such a fun and successful event, Aurora made the planning process very easy, and thankfully the venue was close, so transporting decor and food in a wagon was super easy. We kept a shared google folder together during the planning process, so all details could be shared, including photos from the event, and easily accessible for all parties involved.

So, moral of this blog post is, everyone should think about having a hot dog themed party at some point, because it’s fun!
